An end cap, also called a line end closure or end plug, is used to close the open end of a drip irrigation pipe or lateral line. It prevents water leakage, maintains system pressure, protects the line from dirt and insects, and helps the drip emitters work properly. It is simple, durable, and essential for completing a drip irrigation line.

Product Description

An end cap, also called a line end closure or end plug, is used to close the open end of a drip irrigation pipe, drip lateral, or PE tube. It prevents water from escaping at the end of the line and helps maintain pressure inside the irrigation system.

In a drip irrigation system, every lateral line must be closed properly after installation. If the end of the line is left open, water will flow out freely, pressure will drop, and the emitters may not work correctly. The end cap seals the line so that water is distributed through the emitters instead of being wasted at the pipe end.

End caps are simple but very important components. They help prevent leakage, maintain system pressure, protect the inside of the pipe from dirt and insects, and make the drip system more reliable. Some end caps can be removed easily for flushing the line, cleaning debris, or maintenance.

Technical Material Information

Manufacturer / Producer
Produced by drip irrigation fitting and pipe-accessory manufacturers. Common producers include irrigation companies such as Netafim and other drip irrigation suppliers. The exact producer depends on pipe size, fitting type, material, and connection design.
Manufacturer Note
How It Works:
The end cap is pushed or fitted onto the open end of the pipe. Once seated properly, it closes the end of the dripline and stops water from escaping. In push-fit models, the cap seals by tight contact with the pipe. In threaded or compression-type models, the cap tightens around the pipe to create a secure closure.

Where It Is Installed:
Installed at the far end of drip laterals, PE tubes, drip tapes, garden irrigation lines, greenhouse irrigation lines, and field crop drip systems.

Best Used With:
Drip lateral pipe, PE pipe, drip tape, mainline/sub-main outlets, button drippers, emitters, start connectors, take-off connectors, rubber grommets, flush valves, and drip irrigation fittings.

Practical Installation Steps:

Cut the dripline square at the desired length.
Make sure the pipe end is clean and free from dirt.
Push the end cap straight onto the pipe end.
Twist gently by hand if needed to seat the cap properly.
Check that the cap is fully fitted and there is no leakage.

Important Installation Note:
Do not drill extra holes, screw into the pipe wall, or use open flame to force the cap. Heating may deform the pipe and cause leakage. If the cap is too tight, warm water may be used gently to soften the plastic slightly, but avoid overheating.

Maintenance:
Inspect the end cap regularly for leakage, cracks, loose fitting, or damage. Remove it when flushing the line if the model allows removal. Reinstall firmly after cleaning.
Material
High-quality plastic, polypropylene, polyethylene, or UV-stabilized engineering plastic. Some models may include rubber seals or compression rings depending on the connection type.
Pipe / Tape Diameter
ommon sizes include 12 mm, 16 mm, 20 mm, 25 mm, and 32 mm depending on the drip lateral or pipe size. The end cap must match the pipe diameter for a tight, leak-resistant fit.
Connection Type
Push-fit, compression, threaded, barbed, or fold-and-lock type depending on the pipe type and irrigation system design.
Working Pressure
Suitable for low-pressure and medium-pressure drip irrigation systems. The exact pressure rating depends on the manufacturer and model. The cap must be selected according to pipe pressure and system operating pressure.
Application
Main Use:
Used to close the end of drip laterals, PE pipes, drip tubing, and small irrigation lines.

Key Benefits:

Seals the end of the drip line securely
Prevents water leakage at the pipe end
Maintains pressure inside the irrigation system
Helps emitters work more uniformly
Protects the line from dirt, insects, and debris
Easy to install by hand
Can be removed for flushing and maintenance depending on the model
Durable for field irrigation use
