Scope

Conduct feasibility assessments and prepare designs, technical specifications and tender documents for hydro-meteorological and water-quality monitoring systems in the Mkondoa Catchment. The consultancy also includes supervision of related works, integration of monitoring data, and capacity building for technical staff.

Suitable for

Engineering consulting firms, hydro-meteorological specialists, hydrologists, water-quality experts, environmental monitoring firms, instrumentation specialists, GIS and data-integration companies, climate-resilience consultants and water-resources engineering firms.

Short Description

The Wami/Ruvu Basin Water Board invites qualified consulting firms to support the development of hydro-meteorological and water-quality monitoring systems for the Mkondoa Catchment. The assignment includes feasibility studies, system designs, tender documentation, works supervision, data integration and technical capacity building.

Opportunity overview

The consultancy will support implementation of the Enhancing Climate Resilience of Water Resources in the Mkondoa Catchment Project in Tanzania. The selected firm will assess existing hydro-meteorological and water-quality monitoring arrangements, identify technical and operational gaps, and recommend appropriate monitoring infrastructure and data-management solutions.

The firm will prepare feasibility assessments, engineering designs, specifications, cost information and tender documents for the proposed systems. It will also support procurement and supervise installation or related works to ensure compliance with approved designs and technical standards.

The assignment includes integrating monitoring information into relevant decision-support platforms and strengthening the capacity of Wami/Ruvu Basin Water Board personnel to operate, maintain and use the systems. The improved monitoring network is intended to support early warning, water-resources planning, climate adaptation and evidence-based catchment management.

Requirements and eligibility

Interested consulting organisations should demonstrate relevant experience in:

Hydro-meteorological and water-quality monitoring systems
Feasibility studies and engineering design
Preparation of specifications and tender documents
Supervision of equipment installation and related works
Monitoring-data integration and information systems
Technical training and institutional capacity building

Exact shortlisting criteria, required experts and documentation must be confirmed in the official Expression of Interest and terms of reference. The opportunity is listed for consulting organisations rather than an individual consultant.

How to apply

Qualified consulting firms should prepare an Expression of Interest demonstrating their organisational profile, relevant assignments, technical capability and experience with comparable monitoring and water-resources projects.

Submission instructions and the required delivery method must be followed exactly as stated in the official notice. Project procurement enquiries may be directed to the Tender Board Secretary, Wami/Ruvu Basin Water Board, P.O. Box 826, Morogoro. The project’s general procurement notice provides pmu@wrbwb.go.tz and mayunga.sosela@wrbwb.go.tz for further information, but these should not be treated as submission addresses unless the specific EOI confirms them.
Application safety: Review the official requirements carefully and apply only through the organisation's official link before the stated deadline.
