Dr. Eng. Sintayehu Adefires Abebe is an Ethiopian hydrologist, water-resources engineer and Assistant Professor at Debre Markos University. He holds a PhD in Hydrology and Water Resources from the China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, an MSc in Water Resources Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and a BSc in Irrigation and Water Resources Engineering from Hawassa Institute of Technology. His research integrates hydrologic modelling, remote sensing, machine learning, hydroinformatics and Earth observation to improve flood and drought resilience, groundwater assessment, water-balance analysis and climate adaptation. He has led and contributed to research projects concerning Ethiopian lake watersheds, the Upper Blue Nile Basin, Choke Mountain watersheds, groundwater resources, flood-frequency analysis, climate-resilient crop selection and hydrologic regionalization. He also provides hydrological and hydraulic consultancy services, develops open-access digital dashboards, trains researchers in Python, R and data science, supervises graduate research and contributes to international scientific initiatives including WCRP and IPCC review activities.

Developed interactive digital tools including the Digital Earth Africa Lake Tana Monitoring Dashboard, the Addis Ababa PM2.5 Analysis Dashboard and the Ethio-AMR Insight Dashboard using Python, Streamlit, Earth observation and data-visualisation technologies. -
