How submitted expert data, CVs, contact details and profile information are protected.

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how the African Expert Database collects, stores, reviews and protects information submitted by professionals through the expert registration form and related platform services.

2. Information We Collect

We may collect professional and personal information such as full name, gender, qualification, location, field of study, expertise area, availability status, phone number, email address, website, LinkedIn profile, citizenship, years of experience, biography, project contributions, future contribution interests, profile photo, CV file and other information voluntarily submitted through the registration form.

3. Private Information

Private contact details, uploaded CVs, internal review notes and uploaded files are treated as protected administrative information. They are not automatically published.

4. Public Profile Information

If an expert is accepted for public listing, selected professional information may be shown publicly, such as name, professional title, expertise, location, profile photo, biography, keywords and public contribution areas. Private phone numbers, private emails and CV files are not published unless permission is clearly given or the platform has a controlled professional reason to display approved information.

5. Use of Data

Submitted data may be used to review expert suitability, prepare public professional profiles, improve platform statistics, contact applicants, verify information, protect the platform from duplicate or suspicious registrations, and support the mission of connecting African and diaspora expertise with water, engineering, irrigation, environmental and development opportunities.

6. Uploaded Files

Profile photos and CV files are uploaded for administrative review. CV files are treated as private documents unless a separate public display or sharing decision is made with appropriate permission.

7. Data Security

Reasonable technical and administrative measures are used to protect submitted information from unauthorized access, misuse, loss, alteration or disclosure.

8. Data Sharing

We do not sell expert data. Information may be shared only when necessary for platform administration, technical hosting, legal compliance, or controlled professional presentation according to the purpose of the database.

9. Data Retention

Submitted information may be retained as long as needed for expert review, profile management, platform integrity, professional communication and administrative record keeping.
