Dr. Eng. Sintayehu Adefires Abebe is an Ethiopian hydrologist, water-resources engineer and Assistant Professor at Debre Markos University.   Serves as Co-Principal Investigator of the ML-FReF project for 2025–2027. The European Space Agency-supported project develops a machine-learning-driven flood resilience framework for Ethiopian lake watersheds using Earth observation, hydrological information and advanced analytical methods.

  Contributed to Debre Markos University research projects concerning water-balance model testing for economic valuation in the Choke Mountain watersheds and development of crop-selection models for adaptation to El Nino and La Nina events in the Amhara Region.
